ചെൽസിയുടെ ഇടക്കാല പരിശീലകനായി വീണ്ടും കലം മക്ഫാർലെയ്ൻ: അനുഭവങ്ങൾ പങ്കുവെക്കുന്നു
ചെൽസി ഫുട്ബോൾ ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ ഇടക്കാല പരിശീലകനായി ഈ സീസണിൽ രണ്ടാം തവണയും ചുമതലയേറ്റ കലം മക്ഫാർലെയ്ൻ തന്റെ അനുഭവങ്ങൾ തുറന്നുപറയുന്നു. എൻസോ മറെസ്ക പുറത്താക്കപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ നേരത്തെയും ഇതേ സ്ഥാനത്ത് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.
“ഇതൊരു വലിയ വെല്ലുവിളിയാണ്,” മക്ഫാർലെയ്ൻ പറഞ്ഞു. “ടീം മോശം പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ചവെക്കുകയും ഒടുവിൽ പരിശീലകന് ജോലി നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അത് ഒട്ടും സന്തോഷകരമായ സാഹചര്യമല്ല.”
“നമുക്ക് വളരെ അടുപ്പമുള്ള, ഒന്നിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഒരാൾക്ക് ജോലി നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നത് ഒരിക്കലും നല്ലൊരു അനുഭവമല്ല. പക്ഷേ, ഫുട്ബോൾ അങ്ങനെയൊക്കെയുള്ളതാണ്. അതിൽ നിന്ന് മുന്നോട്ട് പോയേ മതിയാകൂ. അടുത്ത മത്സരങ്ങൾക്കായി സ്വയം പാകപ്പെടേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്,” അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
നേരത്തെ സീനിയർ ടീമിന്റെ ഹെഡ് കോച്ചായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രതികരിച്ചു: “അതൊരു മികച്ച പാഠമായിരുന്നു. അത്രയും ഉയർന്ന നിലവാരത്തിൽ, മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ സിറ്റിക്കും പെപ് ഗ്വാർഡിയോളയെപ്പോലുള്ള ലോകോത്തര പരിശീലകർക്കുമെതിരെ ഞാൻ നേരത്തെ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ആ സമ്മർദ്ദവും സാഹചര്യവും അനുഭവിച്ചറിയാൻ സാധിച്ചത് നല്ലൊരു അനുഭവമായിരുന്നു. അന്ന് കളിക്കാരും സ്റ്റാഫുകളും വളരെ മികച്ച രീതിയിലാണ് സാഹചര്യങ്ങളെ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തത്. ഇത്തവണയും അത് ആവർത്തിക്കാൻ കഴിയുമെന്ന് തന്നെയാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ.”
Chelsea interim boss Calum McFarlane has opened up on being in the role for the second time this season, previously stepping up when Enzo Maresca was sacked.
“It’s been really difficult,” McFarlane said. “It’s never nice when the team’s performing the way it does and ultimately the manager loses his job.
“Someone that you have a great relationship with, someone that you’ve worked closely with – it’s never a nice feeling.
“But it’s football, you have to move on and adapt and be ready for the next game that comes thick and fast.”
“It was a great learning,” McFarlane added on his previous interim stint as the senior team head coach. “I’d never coached at that level before, it was a really high level playing against Manchester City and one of the best managers [Pep Guardiola] that’s ever been in our game.
“So it was just a really good experience to feel that sort of pressure, to feel that sort of level.
“I thought the players and staff coped with it well so hopefully we can repeat that.”
