Barcelona has finally officially announced the arrival of Dani Olmo from German club RB Leipzig, making him the Catalan club’s first transfer in the summer of 2024.
“FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of Dani Olmo. He has signed a contract for the next six seasons or until June,” Barcelona announced on their official website on Friday.
In their announcement, Barcelona also announced that Olmo has a fantastic release clause of 500 million Euros.
Neither club has disclosed the transfer fee agreed for Olmo, but European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Barcelona will have to pay more than €60 million to bring back the former academy product.
Dani Olmo himself has played for RB Leipzig for five seasons from 2019 to 2024. He has made a total of 148 appearances and scored 29 goals and won three trophies for the German club.
On the international stage, Olmo has made 39 appearances and scored 11 goals for the senior Spanish national team. Since making his senior debut in 2019, Olmo has won the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League and most recently Euro 2024.
