ഫിഫ ലോകകപ്പിനായുള്ള തോമസ് ടുക്കലിന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് ടീമിൽ ലൂക്ക് ഷോ ഇടം അർഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡ് മാനേജർ മൈക്കൽ കാരിക് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. നോട്ടിംഗ്ഹാം ഫോറസ്റ്റിനെതിരായ മത്സരത്തിൽ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡ് 3-2 ന് വിജയിച്ചതിന് പിന്നാലെയാണ് ഇടതുപക്ഷ പ്രതിരോധ താരമായ ലൂക്ക് ഷോയ്ക്ക് പിന്തുണയുമായി കാരിക് രംഗത്തെത്തിയത്.
ലോകകപ്പ് ടീമിലേക്ക് ഷോയെ വിളിക്കണമോ എന്ന ചോദ്യത്തിന്, “തീർച്ചയായും വേണമെന്നാണ് എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം” എന്ന് കാരിക് മറുപടി നൽകി. ഇക്കാര്യത്തിൽ തനിക്ക് വലിയ സ്വാധീനമൊന്നുമില്ലെങ്കിലും താരം തീർച്ചയായും അർഹനാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
ഈ സീസണിൽ മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡിനായി എല്ലാ പ്രീമിയർ ലീഗ് മത്സരങ്ങളിലും കളത്തിലിറങ്ങിയ ഷോയുടെ സ്ഥിരത, പരിചയസമ്പത്ത്, കഴിവ് എന്നിവയെ കാരിക് പ്രശംസിച്ചു. “അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരത, കളിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവ്, പ്രകടനം, പരിചയസമ്പത്ത്, അതുപോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുള്ള പ്രത്യേക കഴിവുകൾ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം എടുത്തു പറയേണ്ടതാണ്. എന്നെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം അദ്ദേഹം മികച്ചൊരു ഫുൾ-ബാക്കാണ്,” കാരിക് കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
2014-ൽ സൗതാംപ്ടണിൽ നിന്ന് മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡിൽ എത്തിയതിന് ശേഷം പരിക്കുകൾ ലൂക്ക് ഷോയുടെ കരിയറിനെ പലതവണ ബാധിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ 30-കാരനായ താരം ഈ സീസണിൽ മികച്ച ശാരീരികക്ഷമത പുലർത്തുന്നുണ്ട്.
“ലൂക്ക് ഇപ്പോൾ തന്റെ കരിയറിലെ ആ ഘട്ടത്തിലാണ്, അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ധാരാളം അനുഭവസമ്പത്തുണ്ട്. വളരെക്കാലമായി അദ്ദേഹം ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്, ക്ലബ്ബിനെക്കുറിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വ്യക്തമായി അറിയാം. ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ ഉയർച്ച താഴ്ചകളും നല്ലതും മോശവുമായ സമയങ്ങളും അദ്ദേഹം അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അതിനാൽ അടുത്ത സീസണിൽ എത്ര മത്സരങ്ങൾ കളിച്ചാലും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അനുഭവസമ്പത്ത് ക്ലബ്ബിന് മുതൽക്കൂട്ടാകും,” കാരിക് പറഞ്ഞു.
Michael Carrick believes Luke Shaw deserves a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the FIFA World Cup.
The Manchester United manager backed the left-back after Shaw scored in United’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest.
“I certainly think so, yeah,” Carrick said when asked whether Shaw deserves a World Cup call-up.
“I haven’t got much sway in the matter at all, but I certainly think so.”
Carrick also praised the defender’s consistency, experience and overall quality after Shaw started every Premier League match for United this season.
“Again, the consistency, just what he’s capable of doing. The performance, the experience, his strengths, his attributes that he’s got,” Carrick added.
“For me, yeah, he’s a fantastic full-back.”
Shaw has struggled with injuries during his time at Manchester United since joining from Southampton in 2014, but the 30-year-old has remained fit throughout the current campaign.
“He’s at that stage now, Luke, where he’s got an awful lot of experience,” Carrick said.
“He’s been here for a long time, he knows the club, he know what it feels like, he’s known the ups and he’s suffered some of the more challenging times.”
“So, next season I think his experience will be valuable, however many games he plays.”
