Tottenham Chief Aims for Premier League Victory, Insists Club Is on ‘Right Track’

Tottenham’s Ambitious Goals Affirmed by CEO Amid Recovery Journey

Tottenham’s chief executive, Vinai Venkatesham, expressed confidence that the club is on the right path, emphasizing their goal to secure the Premier League title.

The Spurs faced a turbulent 2025-26 season, narrowly escaping relegation. The departure of long-time chairman Daniel Levy, along with the firings of Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor, marked a challenging year. Roberto De Zerbi took over and ensured the club avoided disaster with a dramatic survival on the final matchday.

Following a heavy spending spree this summer that introduced 10 new players while letting go of several key names, Tottenham is now riding a wave of momentum with three consecutive wins as they prepare to face Leeds on Saturday.

In an appearance on The Sports Agents Podcast, Venkatesham remarked, “We’ve had three better results in a row, but there is nothing here where we think, ‘oh we’ve cracked it’ and we’re right at the start of this journey of where we are going to.” He added, “There will be good moments this season and bad moments this season, but I firmly believe we’re on the right track to where we want to get to.”

Venkatesham clarified the club’s ambitions when he stated, “Ultimately, I guess the best way to answer your question (about targets) is what are we here for? We’re here to win, right? The people that we’ve attracted to the football club, the long list of people, everyone is here to win. If you work for Tottenham, when we talk about being here to win, that means we’re here to win the Premier League.”

Despite the ambitious outlook, Venkatesham acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting, “Can I tell you what year that’s going to happen in? Obviously I can’t, but that’s what we’re aiming for and that’s what I want every single person that works for this club to think about every single day.”

He also mentioned that preparation for potential relegation last season was essential, stating, “To not make that plan would have been irresponsible.”

In another development, playmaker Xavi Simons is making strides in recovering from a serious knee injury. The Netherlands international, who suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage during an April match, is set to return to training later this month, ahead of the expected nine-month recovery timeline. His potential return could provide a significant boost to De Zerbi and the squad before the year ends.
