This is a crucial game at the bottom. Venezia are last in Serie A on three points, and Udinese are 19th on five. Davide Nicola’s side won his first game in charge against Napoli, but have lost four straight since, most recently 1-0 at Como last Sunday.
Paolo Zanetti takes charge of Udinese for the first time, and his debut comes against the club he took into Serie A in 2021. He replaced Kosta Runjaic, who was sacked on Monday after a 5-2 home defeat to Roma left Udinese eight games without a win. “With me, those who run and deserve it play,” Zanetti said at his unveiling on Wednesday.

Thierry Correia is back in the Venezia squad after a hamstring issue. Nicola has indicated that he is mainly there to acclimate to matchday once again and may not play a significant role. Andrea Adorante (back), Bartol Franjić (shoulder), and Marin Šverko (hip) remain sidelined.
Oumar Solet returns for Udinese following a calf injury, but Zanetti plans to manage his minutes carefully. Keinan Davis faces a late fitness test due to a muscle issue, and Vakoun Bayo is recently back from a hamstring injury. David Alaba (calf) and Alessandro Zanoli (muscle) are not expected to return until after the international break, while Gueye is recovering from ankle surgery.
Neither side has any players suspended.
