Pollock Scores from Corner as Hoops Exit Cup

Leicester City Eliminates Oxford City from FA Cup in Thrilling Match

Oxford City midfielder Scott Pollock acknowledged that his team faced no grudges following their FA Cup exit after a defeat against Leicester City. The 25-year-old, who played against his childhood club, equalized in the first half, bringing the score level after Oxford City had fallen behind.

Pollock delivered a corner that unexpectedly evaded all defenders and found its way into the net, igniting celebrations among the home crowd. Despite entering halftime with the scores tied, Leicester City took control in the second half, scoring three goals to secure a spot in the next round of the tournament.

“We gave a good account of ourselves, and we knew they’d come out stronger in the second half,” Pollock shared with BBC Radio Oxford. “They changed shape after the break, which reflects how well we played in the first half to force them into that decision.”

Pollock noted that Oxford City struggled to manage Leicester’s approach early in the second half, which led to gaps in their defense as they pressed for the equalizer. “In the end, we don’t have any complaints,” he stated.

Oxford City managed to reduce the deficit in the second half, with Josh Ashby striking from close range to bring the score to 3-2, but Leicester City responded with another goal, sealing their victory.

Even though Pollock’s first-half goal gained significant attention, he revealed that it was a play he had practiced. “Of course I meant it; I’ve been trying it all season,” he said. “I said before the season that I would definitely do it at some point, and luckily today was that day.”
