Lyon Faces Uphill Battle Against Real Sociedad in Europa League Amid Managerial Changes
Olympique Lyonnais travels to face Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League without a permanent manager after Paulo Fonseca’s departure to Sporting CP. Jorge Maciel, appointed on an interim basis, will navigate the match with several prominent players missing.
The team is set to play without several key athletes, including Moussa Niakhaté, Tyler Morton, Pavel Sulc, Ernest Nuamah, Lois Openda, and Mohamed Ouédraogo, who are all sidelined for the trip to Spain. Despite these absences, Maciel can still assemble a competitive squad thanks to the depth within OL’s roster.

In the attacking lineup, Khalis Merah is likely to take the role of No.9, with Julien Duranville and Keito Nakamura expected to occupy the wing positions. Notably, academy graduate Rémi Himbert will remain unused, despite his strong performances when called upon last season.
