Steve Cherundolo Names First U23 Roster as Team USA Prepares for 2028 Olympics in Men’s Soccer

U.S. U-23 National Team Roster Announced for November Training Camp in Spain

Steve Cherundolo has unveiled his first roster for the U.S. U-23 national team as he prepares for the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The training camp will take place from November 9 to 17 in Spain, where the U-23 squad is set to compete against Scotland on November 15 and Ukraine two days later. Both matches will occur at Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar.

The opportunity to perform at this camp is crucial, especially with several Olympic-eligible players currently involved with the senior national team, which will provide valuable playing time and experience for the U-23 players. The roster features eight players competing in Europe, while the remaining 15 are affiliated with Major League Soccer (MLS).

Among those called up are Brooklyn Raines, Cole Campbell, Damion Downs, and Frankie Westfield, who represented the U.S. men’s national team (USMNT) last month. Additionally, a number of U23-eligible players, such as Diego Kochen, Alex Freeman, Neil Pierre, Reed Baker-Whiting, Mathis Albert, Adri Mehmeti, Santiago Castaneda, Cavan Sullivan, Julian Hall, and Justin Ellis, received call-ups to the senior team’s roster.

However, U23-eligible players Chris Brady, Peyton Miller, and Zavier Gozo were not included in either the U-23 or senior team rosters.
