Mancini Trains Separately as Kone’s Status Remains Doubtful Ahead of Sassuolo Match

Roma Faces Injury Challenges Ahead of Match Against Sassuolo

Roma prepares for their upcoming match against Sassuolo with several injury concerns and lineup uncertainties for coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The fixture at the Stadio Olimpico, scheduled for tomorrow night, will mark the Roman team’s ninth match in just 27 days.

Key players missing from the lineup include Mile Svilar, Devyne Rensch, and Paulo Dybala. Dybala has been continuing his individual training program and did not participate in the last session.

The medical team’s primary focus is on Manu Koné, who is making efforts to recover in time for the match against the Neroverdi. According to reports from Il Messaggero, the French midfielder underwent personalized training yesterday and will undergo an important assessment today to gauge his chances of returning.

Leggo further notes that Koné is eager to be available for Gasperini’s selection, as he hopes to respond to a call-up from the France national team. However, Roma is taking a cautious approach, considering the lengthy recovery time the midfielder has experienced.

The status of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini also remains uncertain. Sidelined due to a back issue, Gollini missed the Champions League away match against Manchester United. Medical staff at Trigoria are utilizing infiltrations to aid his recovery ahead of the game. Gollini’s condition will be closely monitored up until the match, with Devis Vásquez primed to step in if necessary. This would mark the Colombian’s return to Serie A since his last appearance on May 25, 2025, while playing for Empoli.

Gianluca Mancini should be available for selection despite missing the resumption training due to routine workload management. The defender is expected to compete for a spot in the starting eleven alongside Balerdi in the lead-up to the match against Sassuolo. With several uncertainties to resolve, Gasperini will need to finalize his starting lineup, particularly in midfield and in goal.
